We're hungry already so went to Andy's Satti House at Tetuan for our breakfast. The weather was gloomy so Satti was the perfect food for us.
Andy's Satti House is located at Natividad Street, near Universidad de Zamboanga
Satti is a Tausug food very popular in Western Mindanao.
This is the "puso" or rice which is wrapped in coconut leaves when cooked.
The "ulam" are various grilled chicken parts such as liver, heart, gizzard or chicken meat. But the basic ulam is the "stick" which is beef meat (see photo below). Of course it's halal-certified , which means no pork! :D
The usual sight in a satti house has this grille. The huge pot contains the hot sauce which you can order as much as you want.
The sauce is made of several spices (like curry, oregano, labuyo), tomato sauce, bagoong, flour and starch. This is the key for a good satti. Different satti houses have different recepies and combinations. Some put peanut butter which i like if blended well. Here's a blog on how to make satti.
Ready to serve!
Ready to eat!
Chow time!
Perfect with cold softdrinks!
My time to eat! :D
You can always ask for extra sauce :D
