Bacolod Day 1: Mambukal

After the very successful and stressful Zamboanga Hermosa Festival, it's to unwind and enjoy life! Me and my travel buddy, Jotie, decided to go another colorful festival of the Philippines, the Masskara Festival in Bacolod. It's my first time in Negros and i'm really looking forward to see the city in their most vibrant fiesta season. After Bacolod, we went to Iloilo where we met my other travel buddy Joed and our high school friend, Den-den, who are both working there now.

We have scheduled the trip on the third week of October based on the schedule of Masskara posted in one of the travel blogs we saw. Unfortunately, the street dance was moved a week after so we were not able to watch it. Instead, we went to their famous tourist spots like Mambukal resort and falls, old city of Silay, the famous Ruins, and Campuestohan. Here's what happened on our first day in the week-long adventure.

Time to trek towards the falls. Here's the Mambukal river

Sulfuric hot spring smells a bit like rotten eggs. It was raining and the hot vapor condenses into steam. Cool!

From the resort to the hiking area, we have to take the habal-habal. Love the views!

The water was ice cold, perfect to relax our tensed muscles from the hike

View of the rushing water from the falls

And we're back at the resort. Lunch time!

Time to have a relaxing bath at the sulfur hot spring pool.

These therapeutic hot water springs contain high amounts of minerals such as sulfur, that give the water a milky white to brown color and distinctly pungent smell.

I can do this all day!

We're back at the city! Masskara feels all over the city!

For our next adventure, we will discover the old city of Silay and its famous tourist spot, the Ruins. Read here.
