CINEMATOGRAPHYCHARACTER ANIMATIONPRESENTATION OF STORY OVER-ALL"Bendito Machine" is an animation about a tribe who worships a machine that creates an "eye" at the top of a plateau. One day, when they went back to the village the "modernists" destroyed the machine which fell and destroyed the tribes' village. The modernists made a new machine which produced more "eyes" faster. They became rich and built more houses atop of their village. However, the smaller old machine "woke up" and became angry. It tried to kill the modernists but it was killed too. It fell in the base of the village and destroyed everything above of it. Nothing was left but the machine, the eyes and the vultures who fed on them.
The film contains lots of symbolism. The old tribe represents the old religion and the modernists are the new religion. New religion tries to push out the old religion. They tend to forget what religion is all about. They fed themselves with greed and gluttony and they grew larger. Suddenly, they end up falling.
The film won 1st during the 2006 Aniboom awards. Its creativity, wit and sheet talent of the animators made this film a true master piece.
Cedrick S. Zabala "CSZ97" is a multimedia artist based in the City of Zamboanga. He graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology major in Multimedia and Computer Animation.
