Summer is here! The City of Government of Zamboanga has prepared fun activities for the hottest season of the year. Beat the heat with the lineup of events and competitions that will surely bring out the fun under the sun! Some of the highlights are the Fiesta na Isla de Sta Cruz, Hiphop Dance Competition: The Movie Challenge, Festival de las Bellas y Flores. There are also new competitions in the lineup such as the Comida de Zamboanga Cooking Competition, Mi Ciudad de Zamboanga Digital Art Competition and the Festival Dance Dance Competition. Star Wars fans will gather for the Star Wars Convention and The Force Begins: A Star Wars Fan Film Premiere Night on May 4 at KCC Mall. I've been very busy with my comeback in the wedding scene these days. I'm back in SDE editing now with a new crew, Trebor Z Audio Visuals, my dream videography crew. It's an awesome job and i'm getting used to the workflow and this whole experience is just amazing. :)

Last saturday, i had my first wedding SDE in Lantaka and it was epic! I hope they will post it soon. Meanwhile, in another room at the same location, my parents are conducting their Induction and turn-over ceremony for the Rotary Club of Zamboanga City East. My dad is the Secretary this year and i'm still the one in charge with the programme and backdrop designs.

The Rotary theme this year is Peace through Service. The theme logo is Japanese inspired because the Rotary International President is from Japan. It has an origami crane and cherry blossoms. I took the origami concept and created the designs with folded angles and kept minimal as possible. But, im a maximalist so it's still messy.haha. Here are the backdrop and programme designs.

For 9 days, groups of young painters all over Zamboanga gathered at Gov. Camins Avenue to create the "Humanity Wall". Initiated by the Rotary Club of Zamboanga Central in partnership with the Edwin Andrews Air Base (EAAB), this activity aims to hone the talents of young artists and put colors to the dull white walls along the Gov. Camins Ave. 13 groups (at most 5 members each) successfully completed two panels of wall 10 feet high and 20 feet wide. The artworks are based on the 2011-2012 Rotary Theme "Reach Within to Embrace Humanity".

Each team showcased their unique style, technique, and interpretation of the theme which shows the talent and skill of the budding artists here in Zamboanga. Congratulations to the organizers and participants who made this competition a peaceful and fun one! Announcement of winners will be held on May 25, 2012 at the Roofdeck of Lantaka Hotel.
