Nov. 7, 2010 - It was a simple, colorful and talent-packed celebration for Haneiza as she turns 18. Held at Lantaka Rooftop, the party is a hybrid type of debut since the debutant is a muslim. Instead of 18 candles, she had 18 wishes but she still had 18 treasures and 18 roses minus the dancing. Talents were showcased the whole night . Her younger sister Happie who we met at Broadway Musicales, rendered song numbers for her sister. DJ Busted, Zamboanga's Beatbox King, gave a reverberating beatbox number and Mr. WMSU, Kevin Ilagan, did a live sand art performance. Haneiza and her friends also gave dance numbers. It has been months since my last artwork. I have been super busy with work that my creative juices for persnal art has been drained. When I create a digital art, i want it to be personal. There is always an inspiration behind all artworks. It may be a simple idea, another work of art, a stock image that i want to make something out of it, deep-seated emotions, or simply boredom. With these inspiration i fuel my creativity and explore into the world of creation. Sometimes i come up with doodles, sometimes photo-manipulations, and sometimes poetry. For so long i really wanted to come up with something but because of stress, i just can't. I have been searching for photos and looking for inspiration in my favorite sites but my hands froze like something is blocking me to create.

But all of these came to an end when i was convinced to make an artwork for a very talked about issue these days. It is none other than BULLYING. A few months ago news were spreading about people committing suicide because they had enough bullying. In my favorite TV shows they also talked about bullying like Glee and ANTM. I really felt that it's a universal issue and everyone is a victim of this ignorant act. People are bullied about their race, sexuality, height, gender, religion, and more, when something is not "normal." Well, we are all abnormal people. No one is perfect and we all have imperfections. Thus, no one has the right to be a bully.

A while ago i had an idea in mind. I created a portrait of a giant in a fantasy world. A world where he is respected by the normal people. A world where he can fit in despite of his monstrosity. Then there is a rainbow beside him that represents happiness and hope. It may also symbolize the different kinds of people that live in harmony. Here's is my latest artwork titled "Giant and Rainbow".

Recently, i have been noticing a trend in photography that make photos look like a macro photography. I was really confused with what i have been looking at. I am not sure if its a miniature or just a camera trick by manipulating the use of lens. I did some research and i found out the this macro-esque look can be achieved by the process called tilt-shifting. Tilt-shifting is a technique that makes life-sized object look like a miniature giving an optical illusion similar to a macro photo. This can be done digitally. First the photo is taken in a perspective like how we see miniature models of houses. By tilting the camera or simply taking the shot in a higher location, we get a bird's eye view of the subject. Usually, tilt shift technique requires three parts - the background, the subject and the foreground. By blurring out the background and the foreground, the focal point is in the subject like what we do in macro photography. And to give it a freshly-painted miniature look, the saturation and contrast is increased. Instead of contrast, you can also adjust the curves. Here are some of my experiments using the tilt shift effect.

I just came from our first event this November. It's a video coverage for a wedding with onsite or same-day edit (SDE) video presentation. I did the editing for the onsite which came out okay. Well, it's an OK for me coz i wasn't really into it during the whole day. First, i woke up late. Then during the preparation, i was kind of "hands-off" in the direction. It's just awkward working with people nowadays. I was just watching them while shooting. Anyways, i don't wanna mess up so i just stuck to what was given to me, the editing of the onsite video. Last night i was searching for nice songs to use. We considered Katy Perry's "Firework" but they think its unfamiliar to people. So i searched late in the evening for new songs and, luckily, i found a perfect song that is not too upbeat and somehow romantic. The song is "Rhythm of Love" by Plain White T's. Anyways, i loved how they decorated the reception. So here is the onsite video.

After the Mindanao Bloggers Summit, we had a city tour sponsored by the Zamboanga Ecozone. We headed west coast to the freeport. Along the way we stopped by the Yakan Village to see the weavers and buy some their woven delights. I bought a nice punk-looking cloth in black with red and white. I was convinced to buy it coz it's one of a kind and it looks modern. Then, we when we reached the Ecozone, the rain fell hard. We waited in one of their amenities. When the rain started cease, we headed to a newly constructed sort of resort with 2-3 ft pool for kids and cottages. Behind it is a huge swamp with beautiful boat houses in the opposite coasts. We managed to hack the houses and see what it looks inside. The house looks beautiful in the inside with a small jacuzzi with a zen feel on it. There are two red leather beds where you can sleep comfortably. There is also another bed in the second floor which you have to use a narrow staircase to go up there. The staircase has a cabinet in the side. The room is air conditioned with a bathroom and a small kitchen area. There's a glass wall where you can have a nice view of the lobby outside. I can only imagine how it feels waking up early morning having a cup of hot choco in the lobby. :D There are also ziplines that you can use that crosses the swamp. It must really be fun to ride a zipline looking at your reflection below. Talking about fun, there is also a separate building for indoor re creation. It is called GameZone which has a lounge where you can sing karaoke, a cafeteria, three billiard pool and my favorite, the bowling area. The bowling area is computerized with cool monitors that does the scoring and the balls are big unlike the ones they have in Camins. You can rent shoes and buy socks if you forgot to bring a pair. They have a promo where you can use all the amenities for only P350. I hope that the Ecozone will be developed faster so it will be in good use. We had lunch sponsored by Ecozone and also had fun playing bowling. After Ecozone we went to Pasonanca Park and Barter so the bloggers can buy pasalubong. Here are more photos of the city tour. This past few weeks my high school classmates who studied outside are back in the city for vacation. And because we missed each other so much, we had several impromptu meet-ups where i have to leave work just to see this people. Whenever they call me that they are hanging out in Paseo, i don't have second thoughts to go there. These people are the most important friends because they were there during one of my most dramatic time of my life. High school was about self-discovery, change, development, maturity, growth and learning. Those days at RSHS are simply the best coz i could never ask for better friends who are caring, loving, smart, good-looking, fun and definitely a good influence. Leaving high school was bitter sweet. Now, we are all grown up with different walks in life but whenever we're together it's like being young again. I hope that there will be more days that we'll be together spending laughs and memories. To my HS friends and best friends, i love you and hoping the best in life.

On sunday, we'll be having our first event for November, and i hope it won't be the last. hehe. Hanieza is the daughter of Mrs. Amyra Mohammad who we had encountered in our past events. She is always there behind the scenes supporting her daughter, Happie, during the Broadway Musicales. Now, her other daughter, Haneiza (or Hanie), is turning 18 and she just wants the best of her. We are hired to make her video invitation and do the video and photo coverage for the event. I directed and edited the trailer and also assisted during the photo shoot held at Lantaka Hotel by the Sea. Hannie is a dancer so the theme is about hiphop and glam rock. This is one of my favorite works. It's a music video by the tune of Comic Relief's Maria Ozawa, where me and my classmates were the cast. It's our final project in a elective class. We had this new media festival in school and this won best music video and special awards like best in special effects and best direction. I used several softwares like xara 3d and aftereffects for this one.

10.10.10 was such a special day. It is a perfect day to be married and Dennis and Joy are one of those lucky couples who wed that day. We were hired to do their onsite video and last hour back-up photographer. During the production meeting that we had at Astoria Emerald room, we were able to get to know the couple. They live in Iligan where Dennis and Joy work for Coke and Globe, respectively. We talked about the song selection for the onsite and a simple slideshow. Through facebook, Joy and I learned that we belong to the same church. Anyways, its our first time to have a production meeting before a wedding so i knew that this event will really be bongga. And it really was. The wedding is a civil wedding held at Astoria Plaza. There was indoor landscaping in the entire venue. The place was just magical garden with a wooden bridge leading to the cake and fountain at the stage area. They even have fairies dancing for them. They also had a separate cook for the special guest. The food was scrumptious. I hope that we will have more events like this. The onsite video is posted here. Here are the photos of their event.
